My god-brother Scott had a ticket to fly to San Diego at 1:30 pm. We still didn’t have the necessary paperwork to make it happen, which caused a fitful night. I worried we wouldn’t be able to obtain it in time.
Early in the morning, we got up to drive to the office where we hoped we could obtain the last document. We wanted to be there when the doors opened at 7:00 am.
As we made our trip across town, we both expressed our concerns. “Let’s pray about it,” I said to Scott. Since I was driving, I kept my eyes straight ahead. Lowering the volume on the radio so we could focus on our prayer, I reached to grab Scott’s hand and we prayed. As we wrapped up, my eyes strayed to the dashboard. The radio lit up the word “Scott”. I stared as the next words, “Thy Will Be Done”, scrolled across the display. Excitedly I said to Scott, “Did you see that?”
“Yes,” he choked out. “What a reminder this is all about God’s will.”
We cranked up the volume on KLOVE and sang along to Hilary Scott’s song, Thy Will be Done, that just happened to be playing at that exact moment. It was as if God had written a private message to Scott, to both of us, on my dashboard. He reminded us even in our worry wrought with tight timelines, God’s will would be done.
So it was. We obtained the necessary documents and drove the two hours to Bozeman to catch his flight. As I watched Scott make his way through security, paperwork in hand, I couldn’t help but reflect on how distinctly God reminded us, when it comes to the plans and purpose of the Lord, His will would be done!
“The Lord works out everything to its proper end...” Proverbs 16:4 (NIV)
