Happy Easter Grandma

Happy Easter Grandma

Happy Easter Grandma:

On this special holiday, I often think of you. So many Easters around your table, heaped with a feast. Ham, holiday potatoes, bean casserole, dinner rolls with jelly, and all the pickles, olives and trimmings one could fathom. And of course, all canned from the garden or freshly baked in your kitchen. Okay, so maybe the olives weren't made by you, but that was the exception. We were all there, one big, happy family. We grew larger through the years and with each addition, you made each of them feel as if they had always belonged with us.

It's been decades since you went to be with the Lord and in that time, the most remarkable thing happened. I became a grandma too. Every time I tell my little ones "I love you," I hear your sweet greeting in my mind. When my heart softens at the sight of them, I think of how evident it was that yours did too whenever you saw us. And as I snuggle with  my grandbabies and see their sweet smile as they dream off to sleep, I remember watching you do the same with my babies.

I remember the Easter Egg hunts in your big yard. And how your face would light up with a wide smile when we brought our eggs to show you. We won't be having an Easter egg hunt this year...he's too little and she's not in MT this year...but it won't be long. And when they show me their finds, I will remember you again and how wonderful it made me feel when I showed you my treasures.

You would have been a great great grandma by now...and of all the titles that you had in your life, this one seems most fitting for you were indeed a great, great, wonderful grandma. I can only hope that I will have as lasting of an impression on my grandchildren as you had on yours.

Love,

Denise
